Cristina Garzone nasce a Matera e risiede in provincia di Firenze, si dedica da anni alla fotografia amatoriale con predilezione per il reportage. Nel 2000 frequenta il “Centro Sperimentale Di Fotografia” di Prato. Attualmente è socia de “Il Cupolone” BFI-CAFIAP di Firenze dove ha rivestito la carica di vice presidente dal 2013 al 2016, e del Sille Sanat Sarayi di Konya in Turchia . E’ socia onoraria di Circoli e Gruppi Fotografici nazionali e internazionali.
Invitata a partecipare a competizioni fotografiche italiane ed estere ha conseguito, negli anni, innumerevoli riconoscimenti nei più importanti concorsi internazionali fra cui:
nel 2010, il 1°Premio nel concorso "3° Emirates Photographic Competition" in Abu Dhabi.
Recentemente ha conquistato il Grand Prize nell’8a edizione dell’“Emirates Award of Photography” in Abu Dhabi, prima assoluta fra 8500 partecipanti di 58 paesi con 36000 foto in concorso, presentando il portfolio “Pellegrinaggio a Lalibela”.
A Ottobre 2019 è risultata miglior autrice fra 3234 partecipanti e 11500 foto nel concorso “Skylife International Contest” organizzato dalla compagnia aerea Turkish Airlines.
Sul territorio nazionale, sono innumerevoli i premi meritati, negli anni, per la sua partecipazione, ne danno testimonianza le sue opere pubblicate sui cataloghi ufficiali delle manifestazioni.
Con la scelta di sue immagini da parte di commissioni preposte, ha contribuito ai successi della nazionale italiana di fotografia nelle competizioni Internazionali della Fiap, precisamente:
Ad Andorra nel 2005 ha fatto parte della squadra Italiana che vinse il campionato del mondo.
Ad Aprile 2010 una sua foto ha fatto parte della squadra nazionale a cui è stata assegnata la medaglia d’oro per il portfolio “Gli Sguardi dei Bambini del Mondo” a Dundalk in Irlanda.
A Singapore 2011, gran premio per il 60° anniversario della Fiap “Les enfants du monde”.
Nel 2011 in Belgio, una sua foto ha fatto parte della squadra vincitrice della 26° Coppa del Mondo per immagini proiettate.
Nel 2012 Medaglia d’oro nella 31ma edizione “Biennal B&W” in Spagna. Nel 2013 in Lussemburgo, conquista la medaglia d’oro nella 27° Coppa del Mondo per immagini proiettate “Modern Architecture”.
Nel 2014 in Italia, Coppa del mondo per immagini proiettate “Amicizia e solidarietà”.
Nel 2015 in Indonesia, medaglia d'oro 28° edizione di “Projected Images biennal” dove, singolarmente, una sua immagine meritò la medaglia d'argento individuale.
Nel Dicembre 2016 col suo club di appartenenza, “IL Cupolone”, ha conquistato la medaglia di Bronzo ed un premio individuale nell’ 11° FIAP Club’s World Cup.
In virtù della popolarità acquisita in campo nazionale ed estero, è sempre più spesso chiamata a far parte, in veste di giurata, di competizioni fotografiche, le più prestigiose.
Molteplici sono le onoreficenze che le Federazioni della fotografia, la nazionale Fiaf e l’internazionale Fiap, le hanno riconosciuto, segnatamente:
Nel 2010 le è stata conferita l’onoreficenza AFIAP (Artiste de la Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique) Fiap.
Nel 2011, ha conseguito l’onoreficenza di EFIAP ( Excellence FIAP ).
Nel 2011 la FIAF (Federazione Italiana Associazioni Fotografiche) le ha conferito l'onorificenza di AFI (Artista della Fotografia Italiana).
Nel 2013 le è stata conferita l’onoreficenza di EFIAP/b.
Nel 2015 le è stata conferita l’onoreficenza di EFIAP/s.
Dal Dicembre 2015 è entrata a far parte della GPU “ GLOBAL PHOTOGRAPHIC UNION “ e le è stata assegnata l’onoreficenza 3 CROWNS e VIP 3.
Nel 2017 ha conseguito l’onoreficenza EFIAP/g.
Nel 2018 le è stata conferita l’onorificenza EFIAP/p (prima donna fotografa italiana ad aver raggiunto questo traguardo).
Ad Aprile 2020 le è stata conferita la più alta onorificenza della fotografia internazionale MFIAP (Maitre de la Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique), ancora una volta mantiene il primato in Italia ad essere la prima ed unica donna fotografa italiana ad aver conseguito un titolo così importante.
Il 1° Febbraio 2021 le è stata conferita l’onorificenza EFIAP/d1(Excellence FIAP Diamant 1), e a Marzo 2022 riceve l’onorificenza EFIAP/d2, il 1 Marzo 2023 le è stato conferito EFIAP/d3 (Excellence FIAP Diamante3).e sempre nel Marzo 2023 la FIAF le riconosce il titolo di IFI (Insigne Fotografo Italiano).Nel Luglio 2021 le è stata conferita l’onorificenza EFIAF (Eccellenza della FIAF) e nel Marzo 2023 le è stata conferita l’ onorificenza EFIAF/b. Sue mostre personali sono state invitate in Italia e all’estero.
A Dicembre 2021 conquista con il suo fotoclub “IL CUPOLONE” la 16a edizione della Coppa del Mondo per club FIAP 2021 con due sue foto.
Sue mostre personali sono state tenute in molte regioni Italiane e in Centri Espositivi FIAP all’estero, a Settembre del 2022 a Kranj in Slovenia, in Spagna nel Febbraio 2022 presso il Festival Fotografico FineArt Di Igualada, a Maggio 2022 a Reus, nel Giugno 2022 Langreo nelle Asturie e nel Dicembre 2022 a Ceuta.
Nella prima edizione di “Albenga International Photography” del 2014 è stata la principale autrice con due sue mostre personali. In quell’occasione le fu conferito il premio Zonta International Club di Alassio, mentre nella seconda edizione di “Albenga International Photography” del 2016 fu nominata Direttore Artistico della manifestazione stessa.
Maggio 2016 è invitata con una sua personale alla più importante manifestazione fotografica Svizzera “Photo Muensingen 2016”.
Ottobre 2016 ha il vernissage di una sua mostra a Salisburgo (Austria).
Nel 2018 è stata invitata nella città di Matera dal Comitato Maria SS. Della Bruna ad esporre due sue mostre “Misticismo Copto” e “Matera in Cammino: Tra Fede e Cultura”, per Matera Capitale Europea della Cultura per il 2019, presso l’ex Ospedale San Rocco.
La mostra “Matera in Cammino: Tra Fede e Cultura” è stata richiesta anche a Salisburgo (Austria) dal Salzburger Fotoklub, in occasione della manifestazione congiunta Italia-Austria per la celebrazione di San Ruperto patrono della città, in questa occasione è stata nominata socia onoraria del Fotoclub più antico d’Austria.
Nel 2015 una sua immagine è stata scelta per fare parte della 1° Mostra delle autrici Mondiali insignite con onoreficienza FIAP, il “Fiap Females Photographers” tenutasi a Muscat in Oman, dove è invitata come ospite d’onore per rappresentare la Nazionale Italiana. Le sue immagini, che sono state proiettate nell’Aula Magna dell’Università di Muscat ai fotografi Omaniti, fanno parte di reportage dei recenti viaggi in diverse Regioni del mondo da lei visitate.
Sue foto sono apparse su copertine di riviste e pubblicazioni varie, altresì inserite in monografie di varie argomentazioni e per la pubblicità.
Nel 2014 la Rivista “DOVE” Del Gruppo Rizzoli Corriere della Sera, pubblica una sua foto realizzata a LALIBELA.
Nel febbraio 2020, nella città di Albenga, viene presentato il suo volume “MISTICISMO COOPTO”, relatore e presentatore il Prof. Paolo Tavaroli, presidente del Circolo Fotografico S. Giorgio sempre di Albenga. Nel Giugno 2021 nella città di Matera viene presentato il suo secondo volume “MARIA DE BRUNA” Riti, Storia e Immagini in collaborazione con Nicola d’Imperio che ha curato la parte storica e Cristina la parte fotografica, edito da EDIZIONI MAGISTER di Matera
In una sua recente intervista, ha spiegato così la sua fotografia: “Quello che mi è sempre piaciuto ritrarre con i miei scatti sono le persone, che si trovano nel loro ambiente dove vivono, lavorano, studiano, pregano etc., per riuscire in questo, ho bisogno di avvicinarmi con pazienza ed umiltà e provare a stabile un rapporto amichevole con i soggetti, farli sentire sempre a loro agio, cercando di catturare la loro migliore espressione, che poi è sempre quella più naturale, nella loro dignità e mai nelle tragedie. “
L’accostamento del colore in ogni sua eccezione nei vari contesti etnici, sono gli elementi che motivano Cristina Garzone a continuare la ricerca di nuovi particolari di vita quotidiana nel segno della buona fotografia.
Per i propri reportage predilige usare fotocamera Canon Eos 5D Mark III e Canon 6d; obiettivi 24-105, 24-70mm f 2.8, 50mm. f 1.4, 85mm f1.8 e 70-200mm f 4.

Cristina Garzone was born in Matera and lives in the province of Florence, she has been dedicating herself for years to amateur photography with a preference for reportage. In 2000 she attended the "Experimental Photography Center" in Prato. Currently she is a member of "Il Cupolone" BFI-CAFIAP in Florence where she held the position of vice president from 2013 to 2016, and of Sille Sanat Saray of Konya in Turkey. She is an honorary member of national and international Photo Clubs.
Invited to participate in Italian and foreign photographic competitions, she has achieved countless awards over the years in the most important international competitions including:

Hers personal exhibitions have been invited to Italy and abroad, and were held in many Italian regions and in FIAP Exhibition Centre abroad, in September 2022 in Kranj in Slovenia, in Spain in February 2022 at the FineArt Photographic Festival in Igualada, in May 2022 in Reus, in June 2022 Langreo in Asturias and in December 2022 in Ceuta.
On 1st February 2021, she was awarded with EFIAP/d1 (Excellence FIAP Diamant 1) distinction, and in March 2022 she is honored by FIAP with EFIAP/d2 Honor, on1st March 2023 she was awarded with EFIAP/d3 (Excellence FIAP Diamond 3) and again in March 2023 the FIAF recognizes her the title of IFI (Insigne Italian Photographer). Hers personal exhibitions have been invited to Italy and abroad. In July 2021 she was awarded with the EFIAF (FIAF Excellence) distinction, and in March 2023 she was awarded the EFIAF/b honor. In the first edition of "Albenga International Photography" in 2014 she was the main author with two of her personal exhibitions. On that occasion she was awarded the Zonta International Club prize in Alassio, while in the second edition of "Albenga International Photography" in 2016 she was appointed Artistic Director of the event itself.
In May 2016 is invited with one of her personal exibition to the most important photographic event in Switzerland "Photo Muensingen 2016".
October 2016 has the vernissage of one of her exhibitions in Salzburg (Austria).
In 2018 she was invited to the city of Matera by the committee Maria SS. Della Bruna to exhibit two of her exhibitions "Coptic Mysticism" and "Matera on the Way: Between Faith and Culture", for Matera European Capital of Culture for 2019, at the former San Rocco Hospital.
The exhibition "Matera on the Way: Between Faith and Culture" was also requested in Salzburg (Austria) by the Salzburger Fotoklub, on the occasion of the joint event Italy-Austria for the celebration of San Rupert patron of the city, on this occasion she was nominated as honorary member of the oldest Fotoclub in Austria.
In 2015, one of her images was chosen to be part of the 1st Exhibition of the World Authors honored with FIAP, the "Fiap Females Photographers" held in Muscat in Oman, where she is invited as a guest of honor to represent the Italian National Team. Her images, which were projected in the Aula Magna of the University of Muscat to Omanite photographers, are part of a reportage of recent travels to various regions of the world.
Her photos have appeared on magazine covers and various publications, also included in monographs of various arguments and for advertising.
In 2014 the magazine "DOVE" of the Rizzoli Corriere della Sera Group publishes a photo of her taken in LALIBELA.
In February 2020, in the city of Albenga, her book "MISTICISMO COPTO" was presented by Prof. Paolo Tavaroli, president of the S. Giorgio Photographic Club of Albenga. In June 2021 her second book “MARIA DE BRUNA, Rituals, History and Images” in collaboration with Nicola D’Imperio who wrote the historical part and Cristina the photographic part, published by Edizioni Magister of Matera, was presented in the city of Matera.
In a recent interview, she explained his photography : "What I've always liked to portray with my photographs are people, who are in their environment where they live, work, study, pray etc., to succeed in this, I need to approach them patiently and humbly and to try to establish a friendly relationship with the subjects, make them feel at ease all the time, trying to capture their best expression, which is always the most natural expression, in their dignity and never in their tragedies.
The combination of color in all its exceptions in the various ethnic contexts are the elements that motivate Cristina Garzone to continue the search for new details of daily life in the sign of good photography.
